Large Brass Disc - Civil War ?

    Hi everybody,
I found this large brass disc today in an area where I have found a North Carolina state seal and a Confederate lined "I" button. It is slightly convex, and has a brass hook on the back soldered in place, but I think it's too large for a rosette. Any ideas/ information would be greatly appreciated! (Hope it's a Civil War plate, but I have never seen one like this in any of my books). Thanks, Jack.

I can't tell for sure but it looks to have some sort of design on the front.
Just maybe some olive oil would bring the design out.
Still a very nice find just might be CW era relic.

I'm thinking "not" too large for a rossette....that's what I'd call it......

Agreed... bridle rosette— and a big 'un!

I've turned this thing every way but loose, looked under magnification, etc. and there are only old scratches--no design on it. thanks for all the input--popular opinion seems to be rosette--Thanks!
