Small Buckle Civil War or Odler ? ? ? ?

Dug this at about 8" - 10 " deep , about 200 feet from a coach house where the union army made a rest stop camp . There is residue from what looks like leather on the stright side it was probally 1/2 inch wide. There are some green tarnish colored spots on the corrosion covering the whole piece . It feels a little heavy for its size and it's not attracted to a magnet . Any ideas , maybe from a boot or pouch ? Or could it be older and from a shoe ? Thanks for looking and HH

I have found several small brass buckles like that. They probably were used by the military, but they were definately used by civilians as well. Something like that is hard to place unless you find it in context with a lot of other artifacts that are definately CW era.
