I live in Shippensburg pa and do some relic hunting in and around Gettysburg area I mostly find bullets but I would really like to find buttons and similar items in 5 years I have only 2 buttons. So I am asking for help to maybe find areas to hunt in Pa,Md,WV and Va area. Maybe meet some new people to hunt with and learn more. I love to metal detect and try and get out every weekend. I found this web site today and hope to share time with some new people.

If you are finding bullets, keep on searching. Those bullets were fired at someone, so there may be some buttons or other items a soldier may have dropped. Do some research on possibly locating campsites. I have found buttons, plates, and misc. items in or around battlefield sites. Not to mention bullets. Also try some old homesites. We've found a mix of confederate and yankee buttons on those. Good luck.
