    belt age?

I'm probably in the wrong forum to ask about this belt, but couldn't think of an appropriate place to put it. I'm also posting here because I once found this exact buckle (minus the belt!) amongst a whole bunch of civil war relics....maybe a later drop or lost item. Anyway, here's the belt and belt plate--all I'm hoping for is a ballpark time period for when it was used, and it's use--military-- or otherwise. Thanks! Jack.

    Re: belt age?

    Hello,

I have several of the same buckles. They came out of the old KMI building when it closed down in the 60s. I would guess that they go back to the 40s or so and were used by the cadets at the Kentucky Military Institute. Most of them were made by N. S. Meyer, who was a huge producer of insignia and other metal items for the military. They have been in business since the early 1900s, and I think they are still around, but under a different name. I hope this helps!

IT CERTAINLY DOES, PinFire--Thank you very much--I didn't really have any idea how old these were. Jack.
