    Loot "Inflation!"

I've been reading John H. Worsham's, "One of Jacksons Foot Cavalry" & on Pg. 342, It say's, "Conf. Partisians under Mosby capture a train near Kerneysville, & escape with nearly $2M from Union Payroll" on Oct. 13, 1864.
That piqued my curiosity, so I hunted for more info. I found Mosby's Biography, & on pg. 317-21, It explains how Mosby's Partisians derailed & set afire a train consisting of a Loco. & 10 Cars of the B & O RR. @ Duffel's, between Martinsburg & Harpers Ferry, which is 2 mi. E. of Kerneysville on 10/13/64. They also captured 2 Union Paymasters carrying $173K in Currency, which Mosby split equally between all his men.
After the War, One of the Paymasters, a Maj. Moore, came to Mosby & requested a certificate to the fact that Mosby did in fact capture the money, as Moore was being held responsible for it.

This goes to show how $168K becomes $2M. over time. Interesting!
