Thanks for sharing. I have a site myself that I've been digging. So far, I've located the horse corral and a cook-spot. Only found the cook-spot due to the overwhelming amount of targets in the area. I set up a sifting box and uncovered parts of bottles, fire brick, charred wood (amazed to see it hadn't decomposed), porcelain. I have since moved on to other parts and am determined to get back to where the camp was but dense overgrowth needs to be cleared to get close to the water.

I will be sure to share some of the finds as the hunt progresses. I'm gearing up for the fall/winter digging season.

That's where you will be real busy.
Make sure to sift alot.
You should find lots of clay pipes and gun flints as well as black glass and ceramic.
I found alot of burnt wood also..hardened by fire I belive.
Also don't be surprised to find Native American artifacts also...good ground is good ground and likely utilized many times.
Also..the Creeks from the north allied with the British for most of those seven years.
Best of luck.

Nice finds Donney.
What 1839 coin is that?
Shame that face pipe was broken.
I found a green glazed one "the Arab"
I got real lucky with one site I had access to..it had a small sweetwater spring that saved alot of the pewter in real good condition under the tanic leaf litter and mud.
Very messy though.
All my military buttons still have shanks and even the brass with wire shank ones are still intact.
I see you have a spoon..silver?
I found a fork..brass.

Its a half dime New Orleans. Big surprise there ;) I've only sifted. My MD goes haywire because of all these dang nails! I've sifted about 45 tons of dirt. i estimate another 300 is in order. I found the privy with no MD and then found another place on the property using my MD. The spoon is iron. i wish it were silver. It says CS on the handle. Yes, yes, Confederate States, but like ive said i dont believe there was any confederate activity on the property though its very possible. Make an album of your artifacts for me to drool over. lol

Somebody confederate was there...there was a large volunteer contingency from Louisiana if you research in depth.
That coin is not a big surprise to me in north Florida.
You sure have heart doing it all with no M.D. You should really invest in one With multiple tones that can discriminate out the iron.
I'll post a few photos here if that's OK with you.

Well the battle of Natural Bridge was nearby, so yes there was confederate action. It's possible union or confederate troops walked through my backyard but since I found the spoon with all the artifacts dating to Seminole War I'm assuming that it's either the makers mark or someone's initials. Can't wait for pics! :) I would invest in a better detector but on account of my age, my budget is very, very low :)

Nice! I hate glueing bottles. It's so dang difficult. But I like glueing plates. I've got pieces to about 20-25 different dishes. Some are almost complete Others have a long way to go.

Do you have any military buttons from the site?
I'm just trying to figure if you are actually finding military related items or just a pioneer homestead.
Are the nails square?
Have you found any kaolin pipe fragments at all?
Those guys had cases of them..all British made.
Is the glass your finding dark green?
That style of reeded stem face pipe you found tends to be a later style.
Here is a good link for you on your pipe

Definitely Second Seminole War. Many forts surrounded the area where i live. I found the pipe face and two tavern pipe stem fragments. no bowls yet. i dont have ant military buttons yet but all the artifacts i've found date in the time period for the SSW. Not to mention all the artifacts i've found in a very small area suggest an army encampment. I along with every other expert who has seen my collection or pieces of the collection is person strongly agree with the theory of a SSW campsite. Btw i see all those stems in the background of your photo! Dang thats a heck of alot of pipe fragments! you lucky dog!

I will try to get a better photo..its actually an arrowhead.
I have many other worked glass pieces like scrapers and blades.
My guess is Creek tribe members.
