civil war site around pensacola fl area

hi all, i am new to metal detecting and would like to know if there are any places around pensacola that one can search..

i bought a MXT and would like to try it somewhere besides the local parks and stuff..

I'm from the Crestview area, now living in Columbia S.C. I'm not sure if they'll let you detect, but I know that Fort Pickens was used during the civil war. If they won't let you detect, I would definitely try the nearby beaches to hunt for relics.
