Found this object near an old church/Graveyard that was but in the late 1700s. Any ideas?

I agree with my fellow Georgian's here. This could be a broken piece from an old grave marker of some kind. Ornate looking.

Any chance a door knocker. if you look by the thumb there are two ears sticking out that could have held the clacker. Just an idea.
