I posted this up in the metal detecting forums, but I thought I might get some more attention over here. I was guessing possible military buckle, and I just now got a reply that it is, and likely a confederate buckle. Do you guys know by the wreath what this may have had on the other piece? Maybe you guys even have a match to it too!? :-)

thanks for any and all input!!

Beautiful wreath portion of a two piece tongue and wreath belt plate. Probable that it is CW era, I would hit the area good and try finding the tongue. What else did you find at this site that may be relatable?

You should post your wreath buckle in the "What is it" forum. Someone there will ID it for you. In the meantime you can visit this site and look for yourself. I looked but couldn't find a match for yours in either the Union or Confederate section. It may be a later buckle or possibly a reproduction. The shape of the belt loop and how it is attached to the wreath make me question it. The rest of your finds are real nice and that nickle is in great shape.
