    Civil War databases?

    My wifes ancestor was in the Civil war along with 4 other men from the island here. I had researching them on my list of things to do, but thus far haven;t done much with it. Finding that civil war buckle today has re-kindled my interest...Anyone know of any searchable databases where I can type in a name and location and get info on what regiments they served in etc.??
    So many promising sites to detect...so little time....
