Hello all,
Thank you for viewing this thread.
Found this a week ago. Have seen some hammered bullets, but would like for some one with more knowledge to reject or confirm it as a hammered bullet or not. Any help appreciated. Its' weight is 17 grams and a 50 cal minnie ball IMAG0992.jpg IMAG0993.jpg is over 23 grams.

It's a lead bale seal. Yours look unmarked, but they were used to seal cloth bales/bolts a long time ago. Most I see in this country are 18th-19th century.

Interesting find.
I recently found my 1st old lead seal and I didn't know what it was either. Mine is marked "US Customs". I have no clue what it was for though.

Then again I suppose it Could be a Bale Seal , I Don't find many (Strange all the cotton that was grown round here) & I can not picture one in my head right now.
Maybe most bale seals are in peoples CW Collections around here.
??? Man I know I got at-least 1. :coffee2: & Med's Time. lol

I am not good with metric measurements so I used a calculator to convert it to inches. If I am right that 3+ cm lead piece is about 1.25 inches in diameter. I am not saying it isn't a seal but I have never seen one that big. All the ones I have found are around 3/4".

Somewhere on this site I read that there were mail bag seals similar to the lead piece.
