Sword belt plate?

Dug this out of a hay field locally. The land owner remembered seeing glass and iron come up when they tried corn there one year and knew nothing about it (probably how it ended up bent). The property has been in their family since the 1890s.

Anyway the closest I have come to identifying it is a enlisted sword belt plate that the wreath has corroded away. Cool find for Minnesota if indeed that's what it is.

On July 1, 1994 (A Friday) I found an oval U S belt plate in St Cloud, Minn. A week later I realized that I found this on the 131st anniversary of the start of the Gettysburg battle.
