    Help With Identification Please

This is my first post, I am fairly new to metal detecting. I found this item on my family farm in North Alabama. It was found in the same area as a few civil war items. I'm not sure if this could be civil war or an old farm item. It is about 8" long and 6" wide. I have tried to google it but I don't even know what to google. LOL Any help is appreciated.

It resembles a saddle. Maybe from a toy horse? You might get a better response if you posted it in the "What is it" forum. here's a link: http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/what/

It resembles an item that the infamous DCMatt solved a while back. Put it on a horse to guard it from the straps digging into the skin and such.

AT 8"s long and 6"s wide that would be a mighty small horse.

Now I see. Not a saddle at all. And, thanks to Creskol for the ID.
