Hello,
I recently purchased a Mansfield & Lamb sword in fair condition. What I can't figure out, though is how crudely made the scabbard is for a Northern made sword (Rhode Island I think). It appears as though the iron for the scabbard was just folded over and sealed in some way, leaving a visible overlapping seam all the way down it. Is this typical of this particular sword, or is it a mismatch?--looks much more Southern to me, but I really don't know. That's why I'm asking you experts! Thanks!
