Nice finds on the Minnie balls. Those bullets and their size are exactly why so many amputations had to be performed. Hit in a joint or a critical part of the body such as a shoulder, elbow, knee, or ankle would most likely have the same devestating results of amputation and loss of limb in order to save the soldiers life. Those lead balls when exiting the body would do so much damage in taking with it anything in its path such as bone, muscle, or tissue. Sometimes we wonder in all the balls we dig if some of these lead balls drastically changed some soldiers lifes or ended them. Some most definately did.

I like 'Big 69's' as much as I like Gardner's , I only dug 3 69 cal 3 ringers in my time 15+ years , a cool dude in my club brought in a nice one from West GA.

I Have to buy my Prussian Bullets :u lucky Dog.LOL

I have often wondered the same thing.
Even at 54 or 58 cal those bullets produced devastating wounds .:coffee2:

Thanks buddy. I know there was some luck involved lol. I found one about ten years ago about a half mile away from this spot. It's now under a big divelopment. We found some cool stuff at the present spot. We found .577" sharps rifle bullets there. There pretty rare bullets. Good luck and HH buddy
