Here is a link that might help you. Some reproduction pieces are made from the original mold so it can be very tricky trying to ID a certain item as original or reproduction.

The eagle breastplate emblem shown by Ridgeway as "Pattern #462" appears to match up exactly with Truth1253's emblem in even the smallest details, such as the number and POSITION of each leaf on the olive branch. Ridgeway says Pattern #462 is a modern Reproduction breastplate made by S&S Firearms. And, like Truth1253's breastplate, it has brass wire loops.
I have had a bunch of these plates and all had steel loops. I agree that the plate in question is a repro due to the brass loops and the obvious poor lead pouring on the back.
Thanks to all who helped me on this. I got in touch with the guy and am sending it back tomorrow with a full refund. I can the old saying "If it's to good to be true it usually is" is true. Once again thank you.
