Hey fellas, I recently posted about some WBTS finds here. I think I can see a faint maker's mark under the encrustation on the saber pommel. Can anyone recommend a method for cleaning the pommel without removing the green patina? I need to get that hardened encrustation off. I tried boiling in hydrogen peroxide, but that had minimal impact. Thanks!

soak in DISTILLED water. change the water daily, while changing water very very gently use a soft tooth brush or tooth pick to help loosen stuff. Could take a few days could take up to a week. guaranteed safest way

Use loctites brand called aluminum jelly cleaner and brighter and q-tips. Let it sit on the inside as a test then use the q tips to remove. Works on the buttons but it may pull the patina off so do a test first. I love the stuff.\ Post back up when clean nice find.
