Just saw a brief preview. From the same folks that brought us The Curse of Oak Island. Just happens to be up by Marty Lagina's neck of the woods and they just happen to be using the same guy who does the metal detecting from The Curse of Oak Island, ( Gary Drayton ).

Some say the guys on Oak Island had some type of argument ? and maybe this is why ?

I watched it and probably won't until or unless they really find something which they won't.

They lost me at the end when they talked about "The night Lincoln was assassinated..." Ok seriously, they are going to try to tie this to that? What did Lincoln find out that the CSA found an old Templar stash that had been melted down to make CSA coins and he was going to recover them, but JWB assassinated him to stop him from recovering it? SMH.

We should play a drinking game, anytime they say the word "probably" we should take a drink. They had to have said it over 20 times. Probably means we don't know so we are going to make **** up.

Love Oak Island but they are losing me with this fluff and Templar BS and this show has lost me with all the speculation already.

Well after watching the finale of "Sink All Your Money Into Oak Island", it went right into the new show about Confederate Gold in Lake Mich. "And there's a curse?" The only one I can figure is the stinkin' announcer came over from Oak Island for this show and brought the same silly format. Having trouble with the premise of all that gold getting there and the fact that they were running around and found very little. Drayton was very unconvincing and the coin, looking a bit like can slaw to me. I didn't see any markings on it but I wasn't there. Guess it was not a surprise that Marty wants more before he gets on board. Think that the KGC hid the gold and Davis had some but not that much with him when captured. Oh well, something new to beat up on, let's see what they don't find!

Well, I just finished watching (via DVR and skipping feature). I have to agree with jeff of pa - the "...the announcer is going to get on my Nerves!" Unfortunately, the "announcer" has already gotten on my nerves! At this stage of the game - his voice is no different then "fingernails on a chalkboard" that immediately gets a "skip forward" on my DVR. Here is my problem - am I prepared to go the route I have with Oak Island? DVR all shows, skip through 55 minutes of the show for 5 minutes of new material. I set my DVR for the series but not sure how much I will be able to take. :laughing7:

Tonight was another repeat of Expeditions Unknown and guess who was there with a metal detector ? Gary Drayton. They were over in England searching for the British Crown jewels that got lost in the bog.

And I'll bet ya Josh was the one with the shovel:laughing7:

Anyone else know more about Confederate coins? Amazing how they found a nut and then a bolt...from the Civil War? The conclusions when they "know" that artifacts are from the wagons are amazing...or was it sacred bolts from the Templars? Curses. They are good.

Oh, did anyone catch that when they hit the field that the guys had detectors that could detect Iron while Gary had the CTX-3030 and not only could it detect iron but precious metals 12" down I think is what the announcer said or something close. So what did they have? Or was their detectors notched the detect only iron??? Really, Is Gary the only one who could find something not iron or did they need to justify his pay?:BangHead:

I've never seen a "silver Confederate coin" That thin, or that small in diameter.

The silver coin that they think that their coin is, and show in a photo next to their dug "coin" is a silver confederate half dime token. This token is extremely rare, and only small amount of examples exist. The thing I don't understand is how a coin made of 88 percent silver would come out of the ground in such poor condition, with a crack suggesting that it is made out of very brittle metal. Just like on The Curse of Oak Island, I don't predict that they will find anything in the series other than more expenses, and a few typical finds for the area that they will talk about for three episodes straight.

I believe that the announcer said, "up to 3 feet deep", which is even more ridiculous. And even a $20 metal detector from a toy store will find non ferrous metal.:laughing7:

Yep that was an ad for the 3030 :laughing7:

Can you say "Kickbacks" ? :tongue3:

they must have put down a few dozen Flags.
Looked to me like they re-buried a Few finds that fit the Narrative of the day,
then filmed them digging them.

when he stuck the shovel in the ground for the Coin,
I'd swear it looked like a pre Dug Clump

Yep, and when nothing fits the narrative, bury your own items to "find".

Yes, I was roped into watching that "Curse of Civil War Gold" claptrap too. Other than the obvious question as to the bizarre theory that left over gold from the Confederacy was being hauled to Mexico to continue the war, got buried in Georgia by crooked Union soldiers, then somehow ended up over a thousand miles away dumped into Lake Michigan, do they really think that the money wasn't divided up among those involved long before all that? It really stretches the bounds of logic and human nature. As for Gary Drayton and the metal detecting of a plowed field, even a newbie to detecting wouldn't take that seriously. No gridding, no headphones, use of a backhoe on items that wouldn't be more than a foot deep......ridiculous. Next time I find a rusty square nut and a bolt, I guess I'll have to make a display case with the caption "parts from Jefferson Davis's treasure wagons'! Good Grief! I have to give them credit though.....they managed to convince the powers that be to let them hunt around a historic site. I'll have to practice reciting my BS lines and produce a TV show to get mine I suppose.

Currently, I am not interested in listening/watching them describe their theories as to what may or may not have happened. They have already shown scenes of underwater diving, so lets cut to the chase and see that. The claim is the gold is on a box car in the lake. Let's see if it is there. If they actually find it, then go back and give us episodes of how they made the connection and followed the trail.

It just isn't satisfying to watch someone fail. When they fail, we are disappointed because we feel just as gullible as the people in the show must feel.

I was stuck at work, so it was on as basic background noise. What I saw was absolutely horrible. Bad (REALLY bad) acting, the most annoying announcer ever (he ruins everything he touches for me, hes like nails on a chalkboard) and more stupid, modern finds passed off as old
================================
I watch the show but with the volume off and "closed caption" on. You still see the narrator making the same annoying commentary, but you don't have to hear his voice. I guess the lesser of two evils ? I'm not sure which is worse because even with the volume off, I can still hear his voice in my head. :BangHead:

Thanks for the info on the token. Very cool but when they said the metal detector can actually find gold AND silver. WOW. Okay, they are going to be going on for a full season with this? sigh.

To find ONLY one nut and one bolt would NOT be conclusive evidence to me. They said they burnt the wagons ? If that is the case, there should have been many many more nuts and bolts and pieces of iron both small and large.

To only find one coin would again NOT be conclusive evidence to me. The show pictures them emptying kegs or barrels of coins into a hole then coming back to dig them up. With the pressure of an advancing army on them, I can not imagine that they were that meticulous in getting everything out of that hole, with the exception of only leaving behind one coin. Additional coins could have been missed in that hole, or even spilled around the area. To only find one coin is hard to imagine.

I wouldn't rule out that they Didn't.

They may have found a farmer nearby where they are stationed and set it up as a Pretend hunt .
with past finds from the area. Or even fresh finds.
They didn't find anything earth shattering.
This may have even been one of the reasons Why Lagina said not enough yet.

Of course just a possibility.

TV Production companies can Wield allot of Mental & Financial power to get access to at least a fringe area

Kinda what I was thinking too. I haven’t seen enough to make me drop a fortune into financing a search. I find more than they have even on a bad day[emoji23]
