Almost looks like a buckle but I'm not good at identifying relics so probably not.

That digger is still active as is one of the other members who replied 2 have not posted since 2008 & 1 since 2010.

These lulls in time make me wonder.

Sorry that was off topic , I would guess it was a 'sling ' part as well something tells me maybe a 'Latch' of some kind also.

It's def, Old Old. GL with ID.

It may be half of a "hook and eye" buckle.

Found 2 pieces on etsy, one they called "hook and eye" and the other "cinch". Both are the same style.
Haven't not found a vintage one yet. But I'll keep looking.
