If you have an idea about where hut sites are located and no depressions exist, whats the best way to locate them?

If arial photos exist of the site, this will work pretty good. Most of the time the hut sites will show as a different color than the surrounding area.

Try using a probe like the outhouse hunters use. The soil that fills in a hut site should be softer than the "parent" dirt. Keep probing until you've located the sides of the depression, then start detecting and screening. Good luck.

If you know they had hut site were you are hunting. Then look for barrel bands and small nails and sometimes red brick. I hope this helps!
