Two Tined Fork

I have found pieces of these in the past, but this one was in pretty good shape and all intact minus the wood or bone handle. Recovered from the Battle of Kennesaw Mt. GA.

Thanks for the pic. I could probably fashion a wood handle like the ones in the pic for display purposes. What do you guys think? Make a handle or leave as is?

I'd leave it as is. You can buy a non dug 2 tine fork pretty inexpensively to display with it. BTW, even though it was found on a CW site, the fork is much, much older, probably made about the time of the Revolution. The 3 tine fork was invented at the end of the Rev War and was popular though mid 19th century, when the 4 tine took over. Remember, the guys going off to battle did not bring the best stuff from the house with them, but the older items their folks could spare.

It's a nice find. They are not found that complete often.
