Yes I was fairly young for hip replacement surgery at age 40. My problem was due to degeneration to the hip bone and socket, or arthritis. I was the only one in my immediate family to have this.

Man!
devldog !

You drew the shortest straw in your family's DNA (at least for this generation) , lets hope that's the worst you inherited.

I'm 47. I think some of my hip going bad is from a motorcycle wreck I was in a few years ago. I hit on my left side. I have arthritis also. I need to get over this damn infection.

I'm 47 as well .

Other than Atari , We grew up when kids were better conditioned with Bikes (I was to broke for a Dirt-Bike, by age 14+), Tackle Football , Baseball , War games in the Woods , & Lastly for me Hard Core Skate Boarding , tho I never Mastered a half Pipe.

A Motorcycle wreck will do the job , Heck glad you survived. in my time I've had 3-4 friends wipe out their Bikes , 2 were killed when "a little old lady pulled out in front of them " ; I never got on a Bike again after a 'Friend'? had me going 120 while I was on the back of his Crouch Rocket some 15 years ago . He later suffered a badly Compound Fracture of his arm from pushing his luck. Bet that hurts him a-lot these days.

Again I wish you a quick recovery.
