Need help identifying this bullet. Found in a civil war area and actually right next to a Minnie ball. Any ideas?

It's definitely a soldier carved bullet. It was probably used as a chess piece. Nice find.

McKee & Mason made some "somewhat" similar, but the Ring/groove was definitely not that wide or deep so I would go with the carved notion/variety..Cool find!!

Thanks for the help! Doesn't it seem to be a little too "precise" to of been carved? Or no?

At first glance I thought finial but it is not. Has to be a carved bullet and yes there were some extremely talented carvers.

I also think it's carved. Look at it closely with a loop. You should be able to see a few knife marks.
Great personal find

Congrat's on one cool bullet. I too agree with a Carved Game piece. Trdking is right, the soldiers were very talented when it came to carving lead bullets. It is hard to imagine how they were able to accomplish some of the pieces they did. Love finding them. Continued Success to you.

Judging by the shape of the cavity, it looks to be a carved Enfield.

Attaching a slightly better pic that certainly appears to show carving marks. Thanks for the help! The inside may of had an "L" at one time, but there are carve marks at the tip of the inside as if the soldier was trying to remove some from the inside as well.

The last picture you posted is definitely a carved bullet. The first pictures didn't show the marks as well.

This pic. looks as if this may be a carved Phallic bullet. Strange, but these are found.

Could it be a cartridge box finial?

This is what I was thinking , even a bullet carved into one ? Also cause of the small hole in the tip. I tend to think it's a Finale.

Then again where would the attachment point be ? Unless 'Strait Tight Leather ' held it in place.

Still could be a carved bullet , it a sweet piece no matter what it's use was.

I really love the shinier patina in the first picture , it may be the lighting but it still looks great .

I was thinking "Enfield " as well with that big Cavity.
