bullet sinker

Found this in creek yesterday. You can clearly see the rings of minnie ball. Looks as if it is only the bottom half. The reason i think it was used as a fishing sinker it was clearly flattened and a groove where i think fishing line went. What yall think

DFXcobb, Congrat's to you on the find of the 2 Williams Cleaners and the nice 3 Ringer as well. SCRATCH the Cleaners off the old's bucket list. They look pristine coming out of the water. Nice pic. also. It is neat to see a Relic where it has remained since the war. Continued Success to you.

delvdog thank you for the comment. When i see a bullet i do set there for a few seconds and think.. im the first person to hold this relic since a CW soldier dropped it. Some get tired of finding bullets. I have found a couple of muskets a buoyant but bullets are still my favorite. I would dig bullets all day....Thanks

I never get tired of finding bullets, they're my main stay here in Arkansas. We find a lot of fairly rare stuff on this side of the MS. river. When my local river goes down I'll get back out and start hitting the swimming holes again. Camps on the river and the swimming holes is where I find all my bullet sinkers...d2

I'm with yall'. I don't get tired of finding those CW Minnie's either. I especially like to find those carved bullets that a soldier out some thought and time into. These to me are very personal and special. Some of the guys I used to hunt with claimed that they wouldn't dig a bullet signal. Not me, I'll dig them all day.

i dig em lol. love the bullets. i have gallon jar full of sinkers..modern bullets jigheads.
