It's not Rev War as the conical bullet had not been invented. It could be a larger caliber Civil War picket bullet. Lots of them were short and conical.

I did look through Mason and McKee's book on bullets, and all the picket styles were much smaller. Could be a carved bullet well water worn. It superficially looks like a sinker but there would have either been a hole through it or remnants of the wire at the top.

My first thought was a sinker when i found it but there is no indication of any holes or iron

That was my first thought as well. These are big enough that most of them would have been remelted Maybe someone was using it as a make shift weight in a small pouch with several? No one will know.

I just now saw your piece / bullet & my first impression is that its the top of a 3 ringer that was cut off then rounded off in the while in the water for 140-150 years .

I could be wrong , I still need a Kayak. FWIW

Easy to work with, tastes delicious...

No!No!No!!

As kids we used to melt it in a coffee can on the kitchen range and cast sinkers on the counter top.
Hot lead burn stains on the wooden cutting board the mold was on too. Or sometimes bottle caps to pour lead into with cotterpins through their sides.

Naughty stuff by today's health standards.
