Possible Civil War Bullet?

Ive never found a civil war bullet and would like to know if this is possibly my first. It seems like the right shape, size, and weight, but it looks like somebody tried to make it into a fishing sinker possibly? I could be all wrong on this but somebody tell me what you think. (Bullet on left is for comparison and did not find this metal detecting)

Looks like you do have a carved bullet .. the fishing weight theory is as plausible as any. Cool find and welcome to the forum.
