Got another 52 cal Hankins Sharps cartridge today. It was only about 100 heat index so I may have found more if I stuck around. Also, a gold plated button 10 ft away. Sadly I cannot see any stamp on it, maybe a military button. Any recommendations on cleaning appreciated. I already used a toothpick to pick off the loose dirt and corrosion.

Thanks for looking. 20200731_150732.jpg

I hope the image is there now.

Due to the corrosion, I cannot tell about its gender.
If lemon juice will help I will try that.
There is gold leaf on it, but I cannot remove it without scraping. Any idea would help on cleaning.
Probably a two piece button. A little thicker and similar to a union button, but no raised imprint that I can see.
Thank you.
