This is your lucky day. I had Kerksis book on plates sitting next to me and it lists it as a ca 1840 plate assigned to the Kentucky Military Academy. His example was a box plate of 40 x 56 mm and Kerksis noted at the time the book was written it was the only one known. Cool find. REALLY cool. As far as rareity goes, he lists it as an "8", the same as a "VMI" plate of the same period.
