    Old Pistol?

I found what is possibly an old pistol. I know its a long shot but I'm hopeing some civil war buff may recognize it as a civil war relic. Any information and thoughts are welcome. I also posted the same pictures in what is it. It was found in a pasture near Port Vincent Louisiana. Thre is alot of civil war history in and around Baton Rouge so who knows. I dont know alot of the history for the Port Vincent area. Thanks.

    Re: Old Pistol?

why do you think it may be part of an old pistol?
because of the shape? Are you thinking that the bottom part of the picture may be the grips?
remember that the grips were not a major 'iron' part of a pistol, then or now.
Usually they were just a frame to mount the wooden grips to.

maybe you are seeing something in the actual object that suggests that it may be part of a pistol,
but I don't see it. Just my two cents. Treating it with electrolisis may give a clearer picture of what the iron conglomeration you have might be in its pre-rusted state.
