    should i clean coins whats the best way if i plan to keep them i found this coin same place i found 1868 cent

    the general consensus is to never clean old coins that could be valuable.you run the risk of scratching or otherwise damaging them and taking away from their value. clad coins and non valuable coins i usually only clean with water and a toothbrush but some people put them in a rock tumbler. crusty copper coins can be soaked in olive oil. sometimes that helps.
