    Coin Storage/Display and Tarnish

I was wondering about the long-term display of coins and the tarnish that occurs even on mint sets due to oxygen. If you made a custom display case and vacuum sealed it or filled it with an inert gas of some sort it seems like it would keep the coins looking good forever, as long as they were clean to start with. Any thoughts?

there are coin holders now that are virtually tarnish proof..they are called INTERCEPT, they cost a bit , but are worth it

    Re: Coin Storage/Display and Tarnish

Hi. I have a large 84+ pound bar of silver from the Atocha. I have dealt in antiques a great deal and a small amount in coins.
My question is my bar sits our in our house an I believe it is getting somewhat tarnished. I have always been told not to touch antiques as is spoils their value. I know a light dusting is fine but what about some form of cleaning. This is worth a fairly large sum of money and I don't want to blow it.
