    How to clean a 8 real ?

    Hello,

I live in France, and today I have found two coins of 8 real(one is 1652).
One is dirty, and on the second, there are concretions .
I don't know how to clean them(electrolysis, distilled water...)
    Help me

    Jerome,

I hope you got my email. I copied you a PDF on Basic Conservation Methods. Here is how they do it at the Mel Fisher Museum. Setting up the electrolysis tank will be the hard part. Please take your time and do not rush. Coins can take up to several days to clean if they are heavily encrusted. Some may take only hours.

There are plenty of post here on TNet on how to clean and preserve coins as well.

    Good Luck,
