What about a little heat to dry the oil from old coppers? Safe? Blow dryers, oven? Thanks in advance.

Did you ever do a video of that method, or post before/after photos? I'd love to see the "hand steam cleaner" method's results.

Mixing dishwashing detergent in a pan and boiling the coin in it on the stove is about all I can think of.

The best way to remove any type of oil from a coin is to use xylene. All of the other previously mentioned solvents and methods will be ineffective because oil is not very soluble in those. All oils are soluble in xylene.
