    How Can I Maintain the Patina

    I recently found this belt plate and I would like to clean it but I don't want to lose the patina. So far all I have done is dry wipe it to remove the surface dirt. Is there a method for this?

    Incidentally, I am told that it can be safely straightened...anyone know someone who does this professionally? Thanks.

    I would just run it unde water... maybe use a stencil brush.

    I have been told that water is about the worse thing I could do to preserve the patina...without the patina to add contrast there would be no detail...

    Do NOT use water on that plate. That can only end Badly.
