    Help with cleaning silver clad.

My silver clad is not coming clean. When I take it out of the tumbler, it is just as dirty as when I put it in. I never mix pennies and silver together. I have tried tumbling for 30 and 60 minutes without any change. I use the following recipe:

    tap water
    sand
    aquarium gravel
    splash of ammonia
    2 drops of dish soap.

If anyone can give any suggestions on what to try, I'm all ears. Thanks in advance.

    Ron

PS. I use the same recipe for my pennies and they are usually clean after 30 minutes.

Re: Help with cleaning silver clad.

I tumble my dimes, quarters and nickels with a SOS pad with soap on it, for about an hour, just coverd with water, rinse old water out, refill with clean water, add a TBS of sand, little dish soap, and tumble for an hour, they come out pretty clean
