    Electrocute or Tumble?

I found this coin today, I am sure it is an Indian Head penny. Should I use electrolysis or just tumble it?

I would also use electrolysis on it. Tumbling, I think, would be to harsh.

Use electrolysis, but keep an eye on it. I overdid it on a shield nickel and almost ruined it. Monty

    Re: Electrocute or Tumble?

So I electrocuted it for about 20 minutes, then scrubbed the green junk off with a toothbrush and soap. It ended up being a '38 wheatie. It's the first wheatie I dug that had this thick of corrosion on it. I figured it was an IH as thats the way they usually are around here.

Don't feel bad... I did the same thing. The yesterday. The penny was heavily crusted, but the color of the copper look like an IH. The FE CO readings on the E Trac said IH. Turned out to be a wheatie. At least you could read the date on yours. HH
