My 1st Real Try At Electrolysis..Before & After
I dug this modern hatchet head in an old dried up stream bed and decided to use it as a practice piece. I used a 12V, 4 amp power supply and cooked it for 4 hrs. in a baking soda electrolyte.

Salt works better than baking soda.

Use some water-soluable hairspray to prevent rust from forming. This can be done, even on more valuable items because the water-soluable hairspray can easily be washed off if need be and does not harm the object. Cheap priced hairspray can be found in any discount store.

I've never heard of this before. Sounds like a neat trick.
