    Another Electrolysis Question

Well I've done it before and it worked fine. This time though I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I 've got it on a phone charger and also was using one of those digital battery chargers. I know those arnt the best to use, but in the past it has served its purpose. Anyways the phone charger is Input : 13 amps and Output" 7.2 v. Well the problem is no matter what I connect it to only the clip will sizzle. It is connected right however as just the iron object clip is sizzling. But the last time the whole iron piece that I did was sizzling. Sure it works slowly but there is still something wrong. Any ideas? I'm using regular water, it did the same thing in distilled. Also using baking soda. I was using this on a broad axe and it half way worked in getting stuff off. I put a small nail on it to see if it was the size of the object and it wouldn't sizzle either. thanks...

Update,,, I'm thinking I might be having a connection problem. I took another find today and took a brass brush to first. Then put it in there and it sizzled right up. That might be it.

    Re: Another Electrolysis Question

That happens to me every so often. Make sure that the contact points are clean on your clip as they will corrode over time. Also as you found out there has to be good contact on the iron you are cleaning. Also battery chargers don't last forever. I've gone through 3 car battery chargers in the. last 2 years cleaning all of my rusty iron.

    Re: Another Electrolysis Question

Check that you don't have the clip submerged. The current will go to the clip as the oxide on the object acts like insulation. A safety pin can be used to flake off rust so the clip can get a good contact.

Have you checked your transformer? Volt ohm meter or polish volt meter (Tongue ).
I know it's here, just need a bigger coil!
