    civil war canons

    Any ideas on how to clean / restore civil war canons that have been buried for along time.

    I think it is... as there were some canons that were buried during war times.
    Electrolysis would probably be the best method I believe, but it would (obviously) have to be on a larger scale.
    There may be better methods of preservation for items like that though, as it was buried rather than being submerged in water.
    Hope some of the guys here can give you some good advice on preservation techniques...

    Electrolysis and a LONG time if it's a large gun. Some dug in salt water I believe takes years to complete. There should be lots of material for this online.

    Serious- yes, amateur- no, but i do not get paid for my passion. Yes their is a lot of info online, but I tend to like to ask the opinion of my piers, as well as professionals, for new and alternate ideas.
