Though for electrolysis I caution people against using Salt (Sodium Chloride) in the electrolyte solution for electrolysis for two reasons

1.)The gas you get from the anode is actually a mixture of Cl2, Chlorine and O2, Oxygen. Chlorine Gas is pretty nasty stuff that you don' want to breath in.

2.)The chlorine created will also dissolve back into the water which is bad for the object being cleaned.

Please recommend using Sodium Carbonate (washing soda) or Sodium Bicarbonate (baking soda) instead to prevent any formation of toxic gases or the introduction of unwanted chlorides to the object you are cleaning.

I recommend a .25% to .5% solution which calculates to .25 - .5 grams of Sodium Carbonate to 100ml of Deionized Water.

If you do not have a gram scale or ml measuring cup, you can add Two teaspoons of Sodium Carbonate to one 2 liter of Deionized water for a .5% electrolyte.
Or 3 and 3/4 teaspoons of Sodium Carbonate directly into your gallon of Deionized water for a .5% electrolyte.
