    asphalt removal

I heard that gasoline removes asphalt. How long does it take or is there a better way. I've been soaking a token but very little has come off. Could use advice.

The gas may not dissolve it, but it should definitely soften it up enough that you can wipe it off. If you've been soaking it and the spots are still hard, then it may not be asphalt.

It's been soaking for 2 days. Should I soak it for a couple of weeks?

Two words: "Goof Off", It removes everything sticky including asphalt.

Never use gas for cleaning, soaking, etc......

Gas fumes seek the lowest level, heavier then air and are the reason houses go boom

If it was tar/asphalt, the gas would have softened it up by now. Soaking it for 2 weeks won't help.

Thanks for the help. I should say that it is the blocks of asphalt when they break up a parking lot and it is barely hanging out. Not so much tar as rock and the black chunk that is solid.

Diesel/fuel oil eats asphalt right up.

Nail polish remover (acetone) might work
