Salt 'n Vinigar
hello, here is my result for using salt and vinigar method. All you do is mix salt and vingar together untill the salt is desolved and drop the item in the solution. check and clean every so often. (thank you Ray King for method) The coin can probably be polished with Brasso (however it will leave a high luster). Sorry for poor quality...wanted to clean it fast. I used this to get the date, which was 1952 D. don't worry about damaging the coin, i can see no wear and this is much better than the slug it used to be.

Hello everybody, i know the pics are blurry, but you wouldn't have seen anything anyways. Trust me, it is a penny, and it was cleaned well. You can see the luster in the second one. See Ray kings post for beter pictures of the results. (obviosly he has a camera that can take close-ups)

Re: Salt 'n Vinigar
I have found that salt and vinegar works ok on everything but pennies.
Smelly stuff huh...lol
personally, with coinstar, I don't see the need to clean coins
besides washing them in soap and hot water any more.
I definitely would not clean any keeper coins in such a toxic mixture or with an abrasive pad.
Slow and careful on all keepers or no cleaning besides soap and hot water.
good luck,

I tried this method with a clad quarter. I forgot it and went away for overnight. Not much left of the coin. Good thing I was just practicing.
