Cleaning gold rings by Electrolisis

I have been detecting an area in which I have found a number of gold rings, but the highly mineralised ground stains every thing black.I have been cleaning the rings by using polish but cannot get into the crevisses in the rings to remove the staining. I was wondering wether anyone knows a safe way to clean them by using electrolisis methods.What solution eg Vinegar, Salt water, how to make up a simple tank, what voltage is needed.Hope someone can help out. seeya Neilo

PBK posted this link on another thread, it's the one I used and it worked great.
The only thing I changed, I don't use the salt and lemon juice, I used baking soda.

Thanks Mike I found plans for making an Electrolysis cleaner in an old detector magazine. I made it up and used low voltage transformer 3volts 145ml amps.I used an old plastic container and a couple of stainless plates and baking soda.It cleaned the stain off of a gold ring in about fifteen minutes, I finished up doing all the jewelry, then tried it on silver coins retreived from beach.It cleans coins but it is very slow probably due to the low voltage.I am pleased with the results, thanks again for your input seeya Neilo
