    Copper Coin Cleaning

Found a cool way to clean coppers the other day. Might be old news to some.
You know those old wheats that you cant get a date on and are covered in green oxidant?

Just get a plastic cup and throw the coin in there. Put about a teaspoon of salt and then dump 2 or 3 ounces of
    lemon juice in.

Wait four days and the patina will flake off into the solution.

The copper will be free of the patina and easy to read a date on it.

No need to scrub with a brush at all.

    Sorry the pics aren't clearer.
    Need a new camera!

P.S. If it is a valuable coin I would seek professional advice before any cleaning. I use this to clean the junkers.

    Re: Copper Coin Cleaning

Yep, you took all the patina or natural look off it. Bet it took more than a penny's worth of lemon juice to make it that ugly.
