    Ok, don't make fun of me too much.

    I have a bunch of old coins that I really want to clean, but I have been on here looking and it looks like pretty much any cleaning will hurt them. I use just warm water and a cotton cloth to get all of the dirt, but is there a safe way past that? I was gonna use mild dish soap and hot water, but I keep running into these posts that say "DO NOT CLEAN COINS!!"

    So what do I do? Am I ok with soap and water??

    They say take them to a professional for cleaning and others say use the olive oil soak. I say if they aren't a key coin experiment until you find something you like.

    A rinse in mild soap and water is ok but don't use the cloth. Rubbing is a no no even with a cotton cloth.
