Ketchup works great for cleaning green off of plated jewelry with stones glued in, like old rhinestone stuff especially, where cleaners and even water, will likely make the stones fall out. The vinegar in the ketchup is what really does the work, but the consistency keeps it in place so that you don't have to get the areas where the glue is wet. Sure, it's still plated costume jewelry when you get done, but if the piece has potential to be pretty to wear, ketchup's cheap and easy.
