    FIRST GOLD FIND NEEDS CLEANING!

Hey all! Found my first gold on our trip to FL in January. Didn't post it...needs cleaning. Found it over 10" deep in the sand, face side up, so the back is not so bad. Somebody posted before how it's done, but I cannot recall. Thanks! Melnatcat

Re: FIRST GOLD FIND NEEDS CLEANING!

Are you sure it's gold? Gold doesn't oxidize or tarnish. It looks to me to be brass. I've pulled 100's of pieces of gold from the salt water and never had one look like this. Just a thought. Either way, I'd use electrolysis on it. Should clean up nice. It is pretty.
