Help Cleaning 19th Century Iron Trivet

I found this trivet at a 19th century tavern site. I almost threw it out thinking it was a dirt encrusted iron fragment and i realized it has an apple or strawberry image on the front.

I have used electrolysis on coins before, but will an object this large work with a cell phone charger?

    What about a wire brush?

I believe it will work just fine.. It will take a while longer.. you might want to move the negative lead around it in different places to get a even result...

For undug coins this is true.  For dug coins this is untrue.
The value will increase with judicious cleaning."
