    Bottle Clean-Up

    Hello Everyone

I found some old glass bottles at my grandmas and they are pretty nasty lookin. Some have moss in them, some have dirt in and on them. I was just looking for some cleaning techniques that I could use like what kind of cleaner(if any) like soap or whatever, what to use to clean them inside like a pipe cleaner or something. I would also like to get the approx. age of some of them when i get pix up.

These are the bottles I found (working on pix)
Jim Beam-1 Liter (w/Plastic screw on cap)
    2 7-Up 10 oz
    2 Coca-Cola 16 oz
    1 Sprite 16 oz
    1 Sunkist 16 oz

    Any help is appreciated.

    Re: Bottle Clean-Up

You are going to laugh at this on. I know I DID. I had found some great old bottle at a bottle dump and was at my mothers house cleaning the green from the inside....She walked over and took a look and says to me,"Don't you know how to clean a bottle?? Gimme that!".

Well, with that having been said I turned over the bottle to mom. She proceeded to grab a box of GRITS out of the cupboard and pour in about a tablespoon and add a small amount of water. She then handed it to me and said,"Now shake the crap out if it", so I started shaking the bottle. In a minute or so it was free of the green crud!!!

I did one the same way about a week ago and it works like a charm!

Good luck and soak the good first.

Whatever it is, it is valuable. If nothing else for the lesson learned or simply the experience of having been there.
