    anybody ever used evapo-rust?

Has anybody here ever used evapo-rust to clean iron/steel things that have rust on them? It sounds like it would work pretty well and even on iron/steel things that have other metals like buckles.

Also their comparison chart makes it look pretty good.

I am not an expert at preserving things, but most of those things, ie naval jelly, are really just an acid to eat away at whatever until it's shiny.

Id think if you found something you wanted to keep, you'd not want to use that stuff as it'd probably destroy it in the process of cleaning it.

Try soaking and light scrubbing, baking soda, electrolysis, there are many other methods Id give a shot before going that specific chemical route.... oh wow, speaking of, you just reminded me, I need to test a ferric chloride solution on silver, see how it reacts to it.
